About the Author
Charles Horton Cooley (1864-1929) was an American sociologist who taught economics and sociology at the University of Michigan. Cooley was a founding member and the eighth president of the American Sociological Association.

I've never enjoyed a dissertation as much as this

Cooley was a superb writer. Out of all my assigned reading for sociology, this is the most enjoyable and informative. It has made me reexamine what place the individual holds in society, and how the relationship between the individual and society is essential to the fabric of the human experience.
